Food: Choosing Quality Over Convenience

Quality Food

Perception plays an essential role in shaping human habits and patterns of behavior. This remains true when we consider the driving force behind our eating habits. Our food choices are influenced by our perception of different foods, and how they either support or contradict our overarching goals and values.

In a fast paced world, convenience has become a priority. All too often we may find ourselves opting for quicker, more readily available food items. Fast foods and prepackaged meals may seem to better serve our priorities, which are centered around time and convenience. We’ve forgotten that the primary function of food is to fuel our bodies, and as we continue to prioritize convenience, we are sacrificing nutritional quality.

While opting for convenience and taste, we have misplaced the powerful potential that the quality of our food has over the quality of our life. Food has the capacity to change our constitution in ways that we often neglect to consider. Various illnesses, both of mental and physical nature, have been directly linked to nutrient deficiency or excess; imbalances which are rooted in dietary choices.  By the same means we have the power to positively influence genetic expression by opting for foods that reverse the likelihood of the onset of disease… WE have the power to choose, and all too often we choose convenience over quality.

It is time for a shift in perspective. It is time to realize the power that food has over our health and happiness. It is time to play an active role in that power, and choose to fuel our bodies that the items that support optimal wellness.
